Our team of over 150 employees work across our retail store, warehouse, and creative office all here locally on the Sunshine Coast.

Ever dreamed of working directly with the CEO & Creative Director of a fashion company? You are in luck! We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Buyer to join our team. Working directly with the CEO and Creative Director, who fulfills the Head Buying function at Billy J, you will support with the curation and delivery of Billy J’s buying strategy.
You will ensure smooth operations, efficient workflows and maintain well organised and effective procedures. The role requires excellent communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. The Buyer will play a crucial role in supporting the CEO and Creative Director.
Your day-to-day:
- Understand Billy J’s aesthetic, customer and target markets.
- Trend forecasting: follow, predict and advise on fashion trends to assist with buying decisions.
- Purchase styles aligned with Billy J customers.
- Plan and organise seasonal and collection drops.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding purchasing, products and planning.
- Manage and maintain supplier relationships.
- Supply Chain Management: plan, record and track all purchasing.
- Financial Management: oversee and manage cost of goods and freight, including tracking and managing financials.
- Create purchase orders, invoices, products and barcodes as required.
- Maintain our inventory management system and use our warehouse management system as required.
- Liaise with and assist other internal teams such as stock receiving, marketing and listings.
- Report on key department metrics and provide advice and support to the CEO and Creative Director.
- Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks and projects.
What we are looking for:
- 3+ years’ proven experience as a Buyer preferably in fast fashion.
- Bachelors Degree in fashion, merchandising, business, marketing or a related field would be a huge plus, but not essential!
- Tech-savvy and proficient in using office software, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and G-Suite (Google Sheets, G-Mail, Google Docs).
- Experience with Inventory Planner or Peoplevox would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work independently.
- Professional and friendly demeanour.
