WE'RE BUSINESS AS USUAL ♡ EXPRESS SHIPPING WORLDWIDE

If you’re anything like us at Billy J HQ, you live and breathe the lives of celebrities, no matter how big or small (MAFS, anyone?) That’s why our eyes were glued to the live stream of the 2020 Academy Awards on Monday 10 February.

The second party on Hollywood’s official social calendar, The Academy Awards (or more affectionately known as The Oscars) is a highlight for many of us ordinary people. We were expecting live performances, hilarious hosts, and of course, the sensational outfits on the red carpet. And it did not disappoint.

Red carpet looks to steal from the 2020 Oscars

Without further ado, we’d like to present our fave red carpet looks, in no particular order. Joaquin Phoenix may have won Best Actor for his role in Joker, but we think these 6 outfits were the real winners…

6. Margot Robbie in Chanel

One of our very own, this born and bred Queensland beauty pulled out all the stops in a stunning navy gown. We are loving her statement sleeves and jewel pendant at the bust. Keeping her hair down in loose waves, she ensured the focus was on her dress at all times.

    5. Janelle Monae in Ralph Lauren

Sparkling. Hooded. Dress. This creation was a breath of fresh air on the red carpet and Janelle shined – literally – from head to toe. The A-line maxi dress was fitted at the waist, and complemented by giant diamond rings on each hand. Seriously, this girl can do no wrong.

      4. Scarlet Johansson in Oscar de la Renta

Making an appearance on the carpet in a metallic strapless gown by Oscar de la Renta, Scarlet was the epitome of old Hollywood glam. We especially love the sheer beaded corset, with perfectly placed strands that dangled down past her waist. Glitter eyeshadow finished the look.

        3. Zazie Beetz in Thom Brown

It just goes to show that you can never go wrong with an LBD. This glittery black midi featured a minimal peplum strapless corset cinched at the waist. Black glitter heels followed suit to complete the entire look. Oh, and who can forget that stunning diamond choker? Perfection.

          2. Rooney Mara in Alexander McQueen

Frilled ruffles? Check. Black lace? Check. Jaw-dropping? You bet. This number by Alexander McQueen ticks all the boxes. Vintage but at the same time modern, this is a vibe that we are here for.

            1. Renee Zellweger in Armani

Wow is all we can say. This commissioned one-shoulder gown by Armani Prive ensured it hugged her in all the right angles. The result? Renee served us a perfect floor-sweeping silhouette. No wonder she won Best Actress.
